Today, we celebrated Helga Morrison’ s 23 years at DeBordieu, and wished her well in her retirement!
Helga started working as a courier at DeBordieu in August of 1987, back when the administration offices were located in trailers in the woods. It didn’t take long to discover that Helga had some pretty deep roots in Food and Beverage. She started working in her family’s restaurant when she was 6, in Karlsruher-Durlache, Germany.
Helga came to America in 1965 with her husband who was in the military, and brought with her that classic German accent we’ve all come to know and love. Remind me to tell you the “funnel” story next time we talk…it’s too funny.
One of the things we’ll miss the most about Helga is her work ethic. She has served faithfully as a wait-person, bartender, in special events and banquets, and she’s done her fair share of training as well. No job was too big, or too small for Miss Helga. Whether at DeBordieu’s Oceanfront Beach Club, Golf Clubhouse, Grill Room, or Turn Room, Helga’s smile and personality added special character and charm. She will certainly be missed.
