Pawleys Island Wine Gala, Thursday, October 1, 2015

PIFMA program coverThe Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art has something for everyone, particularly those who enjoy food and wine! A benefit for PIFMA,  Wine Gala attendees will sample over 100 wines from renowned vineyards around the world and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by eight of the area’s best chefs.

Taking place under the Performance Tent at the Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island, the evening will also include a three hour dessert tasting, a silent auction full of wonderful trips and a complimentary wine glass. Wines will be available for purchase at prices well below retail during this special event. And there’s also a Craft Beer Tasting.

During this year’s Pawleys Island Wine & Food Gala, those guests who choose to join the Collector’s Circle will have the opportunity to taste some very special, select, limited production wines.  This special event happens simultaneously with the Gala.

 

Tickets to the Pawleys Island Wine and Food Gala are $100.

Tickets to the Collectors Circle are $175, and are limited to the first 50 guests and are only available by calling the Festival office at 843-626-8911.

Squonk Opera to Open Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art!

The opening act of the Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art, Squonk Opera, will be performed, rain or shine, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm at the Francis Marion Square, Front Street, Georgetown.

“Pneumatica is an event about air, made of air and powered by air. The Squonkers pump up the volume with live original music that permeates the air, while inflatables pump up and immerse the audience.

Figures and tentacles grow, powered by blowers and vortex fans, and culminate in the 40-foot high Lady Pneumatica who incorporates a wind turbine on her head. She blossoms with sails, breathing steam and raising her inflated arms to the sky. Squonk’s music incorporates the swoops and eddies of air with electronic bagpipes and a vertical accordion that is Lady Pneumatica’s lungs, played like a piano while it rises and falls with her breath. Playing with visual puns, air is used to activate costumes – Squonkers inflate like blowfish and musically activate headtubes with wild guitar and bass riffs.

With the creation of Pneumatica, the Squonkers continue to pursue the most American and democratic of art forms: the public celebration, with boisterous music and surreal image. Squonk taunts and whispers, bellows and caresses, using the very medium of sound: air.”

The Heberts Win the Couples Trophy at DeBordieu Club!

It was a beautiful Fall afternoon at the private Pete Dye course just north of Charleston, SC.

DeBordieu Club Couples competed in Partner’s Net Better Ball and the scoring was outstanding!  Randy & Angela Hebert proved too tough, shooting 59 to beat he Newsome’s by 3 shots.
