DeBordieu Fashion Show to Benefit AMIkids

Hat’s off to the DeBordieu Home and Garden Club for planning “High Tea and Hot Fashions” to benifit AMIkids, March 12, 2015 at the DeBordieu Clubhouse.DeBordieu Clubhouse with lake reflection

DeBordieu, a private, ocean front residential community just north of Charleston, SC, is the perfect place for such an event, and the magnificent clubhouse is the perfect setting.

Festivities will begin with a Silent Auction where a lovely array of items will be available to purchase.

fashionAttenders will also be given an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a beautiful framed oil painting generously donated by DeBordieu Resident, Patty Shortt.

“As you enter the Ballroom you will be offered a glass of Champagne, Sherry or Sparkling Cider. The fashion show will introduce new spring fashions from local shops and modeled by our own beautiful women of DeBordieu. Everyone who attended last year knows how much fun the models and audience had during the show.” High Tea will follow the show featuring delectable tea sandwiches, scones and delicious pastries.teacup

The DeBordieu Home and Garden Club has chosen AMIKids for this year’s charity. “Our youth face a variety of challenges: violence, family dysfunction, and the pressure of using drugs and alcohol. AMIKids assist kids to separate a troubled past from a bright future.” Learn more at www.amikidsgeorgetown.org.

Luxury Portfolio Summit in Vegas was GREAT!

Luxury Portfolio InternationalIt was a real privilege to be included in such an accomplished group of real estate professionals from around the world aLux portfolio slides we gathered February 9-11 at Wynn Las Vegas for Luxury Portfolio SUMMIT, an invitation-only event hosted by Luxury Portfolio International  —  “the luxury face of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World,” our global network at DeBordieu Colony Real Estate.

Lux buzz wordsWith a theme of “Living Luxury,” SUMMIT offered participants the opportunity to explore how lifestyle passions drive today’s affluent consumers and impact their lives and their real estate decisions. Sessions offered in-depth information to help participants to better understand and serve real estate clients in an increasingly global and mobile world. Specific market segments, from Chinese consumers to Millennial buyers, were examined. Some of the world’s most admired luxury brands were studied as examples for reaching today’s connected consumers through experiential and emotional marketing.

An impressive liMillenials slideneup of keynote speakers included Marci Rossell, former chief economist for CNBC, who addressed the global economy; social scientist and author Eric Klinenberg, who focused on how the rise of singletons is changing business; and Shawn Achor, the world’s leading expert on the connection between happiness and success, who explained the scientific link between being positive and being successful. Concluding the event was an address from Rudy Giuliani, celebrated by many as “Mayor of the World,” who offered insights on “Principled Leadership in the Face of Crisis and Change.”

What I found most beneficial about attending the SUMMIT was the networking with other Luxury Real Estate Agents and Relocation Directors in feeder markets like Charlotte, Atlanta, and Raleigh that could easily refeRudyr second home buyers to DeBordieu and Pawleys Island.

On Wednesday of “Vegas Week,” the Luxury Portfolio Summit ended, and the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World Conference began. My colleague, Geoff Groat, Marketing Director, Susan Baldwin, and BrokeTroi and Susan in Vegasr in Charge, Hampton Peace, came out, along with Boo Peace and my hubby, Jeff Kaz. We had a great time learning more about our network, playing my new favorite game, “Casino War,” and took a field trip to Hoover Dam! I am alreadyTroi and Jeff at Hoover Dam looking forward to next year’s Luxury Portfolio Summit in Miami!

DeBordieu Names Brian Hayes Executive Chef

DeBordieu Clubhouse back ext aerial (Copy)Brian Hayes has been named Executive Chef at DeBordieu Club, the private club just north of Charleston, SC, 5 minutes south of Pawleys Island.

According to DeBordieu Club General Manager, Jeff Kaz, “Brian has served as a Banquet Chef for the past two years at DeBordieu Club, and I believe he will continue to be a great asset.”

Prior to coming to DeBordieu, Brian was the Executive Sous Chef at Abigail Kirsch Culinary Productions in New York. Brian apprenticed in London at Le Gavroche and worked as Chef de Cuisine at the United Nations, as well as several other locations in New York.

Brian is married, has two children, is excited about this opportunity, and looks forward to being of service to the DeBordieu Club membership for many years.

Pawleys Island’s SMITH MEDICAL CLINIC Yard Sale!

Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church in Pawleys Island, SC will host SMITH CLINIC YARD SALE on November 8, 2014. Donations are being taken NOW!

Smith Medical Clinic, Inc. exists to provide free healthcare services to low-income, uninsured adults in Georgetown County. Their vision is a healthier community where healthcare services are available to all, regardless of their financial capability.

There are dozens of ways to help the Smith Medical Clinic, but donating housewares, kitchen items, small appliances, home décor, furniture, tools, yard equipment, exercise and sporting equipment to this big fund raising event will help you get rid of all that stuff cluttering up your home and garage, (no clothes or books.)  And the donation is tax deductible!

Donations are being accepted every day the Smith Medical Clinic is open, which is Monday – Friday, (not Saturday or Sunday).

In addition to the SMITH CLINIC YARD SALE, Sheriff Cribb and his Department are hosting $7.00 meal of chicken pilau to eat while you shop, or get it to go!  Proceeds go to the Smith Clinic!

The Episcopal Ladies of Holy Cross Faith Memorial Church will be having their annual Bazaar that day too, starting at 9am!  They will be selling home baked goods, jewelry and plants.

Yes….. DeBordieu CREcreek night poolEK NIGHT, one of the best community events at DeBordieu, the gated, ocean front community just south of Pawleys Island, SC, is coming up on Thursday, October 16 at the DeBordieu Club Pavilion.

DeBordieu CREEK NIGHT is an annual DeBordieu Colony Community Association function, Co-Chaired this year by DeBordieu residents Vee & Jack Nistendirk and Jean & Bob Oliver.Creek night buffet

Also known to most as “the Old Beach Club” the DeBordieu Pavilion a great spot for a casual event such as this.
