It’s Cabaniss….. not cannabis!
I have two great real estate listings on Cabaniss Lane in Litchfield Plantation, a gorgeous community in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
You would not believe how many people mispronounce the name of the street. So to clarify, that it is caBAniss, and not CANnabis, I offer the following.
Most of us have heard of Cannabis…. (and some of us admit to trying it, even if they didn’t inhale), but here is Wikipedia’s definition:
“Cannabis is a genus of flowering plant indigenous to central Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Cannabis has long been used for hemp fiber, for hemp oils, for medicinal purposes, and as a recreational drug. Industrial hemp products are made from cannabis plants selected to produce an abundance of fiber. To satisfy the UN Narcotics Convention, some cannabis strains have been bred to produce minimal levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the principal psychoactive constituent.
Many plants have been selectively bred to produce a maximum of THC (cannabinoids), which is obtained by curing the flowers. ”
Information about cannabis was very easy to find.
Cabaniss, however, was a little more involved. Apparently, it’s someone’s last name, but I’m not sure whose. I found a gorgeous daylily that bears the name Hemerocallis “Stephen Cabaniss.” If you’re into daylilies, you might want to click on that picture and visit their website! And there are a bunch of halls at Universities named for various folks with the last name Cabaniss. If I find out the local link,
I will update this post. (If you know the local link to the Cabaniss family, please let me in on it.)
But for now, just know that the pictures on this page link to the two properties I have listed in Litchfield Plantation on Cabaniss Lane…. like the daylily! Not the other plant.
Also, the pictures on this page link to more information about the two properties, which, by the way, are side by side and would make an awesome, marsh view estate if bought together.
Litchfield Plantation is a gated community on the river-side of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, about an hour and a half north of Historic Charleston.
Litchfield Plantation owners enjoy a full array of wonderful amenities including: a private, oceanfront community beach house on Pawleys Island with private parking, bathrooms and gathering room, an onsite marina with access to the ICW, (Waccamaw River) and a heated pool with gorgeous views of the marsh.
The former plantation house at the end of the Avenue of Oaks serves as an Inn, and a gorgeous site for weddings.
