For those who love nature, what could be better than living at DeBordieu? Right next door to Hobcaw Barony, located between Pawleys Island and Georgetown, South Carolina.
And what better way to experience Hobcaw than on foot!
This Friday, October 25, 2013, from 10 am until 1 pm, residents and visitors to DeBordieu and Pawleys Island will have the opportunity to tour the King’s Highway that runs through Hobcaw Barony, leading to Calais Plantation and its Fraser’s Point, once a ferry site in 1771.
Participants will ride down to a parking area and then walk the gently rising and falling landscape to view Winyah Bay from the site of a Confederate Battery. A small cemetery lends evidence of former owners and employees of Hobcaw Barony.
Reservations are required, call 843-546-1623. The cost is $20 per person and you should bring a lunch. For more information about the Tour to Fraser’s Point, and Hobcaw Barony, visit www.hobawbarony.org.
