The legacy of Larry Mountford will live on at DeBordieu Club in the form of a gorgeous clock!
For years, Larry had campaigned for a clock that would let golfers at the private Pete Dye course just north of Charleston, SC, know when it was time to leave the driving range and putting green and tee off.
To honor Larry after his death last year, a group of members pooled their funds, bought the clock Larry had dreamed of and dedicated it last weekend in a moving ceremony at DeBordieu Club.
The plaque on the clock reads: THIS CLOCK IS GIVEN TO THE DEBORDIEU CLUB BY THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF LARRY MOUNTFORD TO HONOR AND MEMORIALIZE HIS LIFE. IT WAS LARRY’S PASSIONATE WISH THAT DEBORDIEU SHOULD HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CLOCK TO WELCOME GOLFERS TO OUR COURSE. TO THAT END, HE CAMPAIGNED TIERLESSLY TO ACHIEVE THAT GOAL. THIS CLOCK IS DEDICATED TO HIS MEMORY AND IN CELEBRATION OF HIS LIVE. JUNE 2023
Larry’s wife, Anne, and daughter, Sydney, were in attendance at the ceremony and appreciated the gesture so very much.
