Delbert McClinton! Melissa Manchester! and the sounds of MOTOWN with the Masters of Soul are just a few of the events I’m so excited to see at the Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art this year!
Scheduled for September 30-October 21, tickets to the Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Arts are on sale now!
Every year thousands of locals and visitors enjoy what has become on of the most beloved music festivals on coast! Below is the line up of events. For complete information, and to purchase tickets, visit the website: Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art!
“The 2017 event will kick off Saturday, September 30 in downtown Georgetown, South Carolina with the Fifth Annual Seaside Palette/Wet Paint Sale and the Eighth Annual Chalk Walk. “This is a great way to kick off the Festival,” said Executive Director, Delores Blount. “The artists showcase their talent and the public enjoys watching the masterpieces come to life.”
“In terms of talent, this is one of our best years ever. We have a wonderful mix of Grammy-award winners and some of the country’s most promising emerging performers” she said. “We definitely have something to please everyone.”
While the Festival continues to add events and include new artists, there are several events that are tried and true. This includes the Pawleys Island Wine & Food Gala, which serves as the Festival’s primary fundraiser. Now in its 18th year and scheduled for Thursday, October 5, it is always a crowd pleaser and a sell out. Almost as popular as the wide array of wines and knowledgeable vintners, is the Gala’s Reverse Drawing. Each person who purchases a $100 ticket can win $5,000 if his or her ticket number is the last one drawn that evening. All proceeds benefit the Festival and the educational programs that the Festival supports.
“This year we have added yet another component,” Blount said. “The Lee Minton Signature Series will offer performances on January 30 and February 6, 2018. We tried this earlier this year when we rescheduled a performance that was cancelled as the result of Hurricane Matthew. It was so successful that we decided to extend our concert series beyond the fall.”
The 2017 Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art, with major performances held at the Reserve Club in Pawleys Island, will be headlined by multi-Grammy-award-winner, Delbert McClinton, an American blues rock and electric blues singer-songwriter, who is an accomplished guitarist, harmonica player, and pianist.
McClinton, who will take the stage on October 7, has recorded albums for several major record labels and his singles have topped the Billboard Hot 100. He is “One of the Fortunate Few,” who has managed to live his dreams for more than six decades. The music for his current album is new and fresh, and maintains the Delbert McClinton signature that fans love.”
