Pawleys Island Festival of Wreaths to Help Hurricane Victims

Being on the Board of the Pawleys Island Litchfield Business Association has its rewards, but none as great as serving as the Chair of the upcoming PILBA Festival of Wreaths, beginning November 29.

I’m delighted that we have selected the Black River United Way’s Disaster Recovery, Preparedness and Resiliency Initiative to be the recipient of funds we raise.

We need your help! Whether you choose to create a wreath for the event, sponsor the creation of a wreath, or come bid on a wreath the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend, it will be greatly appreciated.

PILBA Festival of Wreaths to Benefit Hurricane Victims

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC – To help those affected by Hurricane Florence and its flooding aftermath, the Pawleys Island  Litchfield Business Association (PILBA) is sponsoring a Festival of Wreaths, beginning Thursday November 29, at the Island Shops in Pawleys Island. Courtesy of PoBuckra Properties, the event will be held in the vacant retail space behind Rustic Table restaurant.

Area artists and designers are creating and donating wreaths to be included in a silent auction during the Festival. Bidding will commence at a private Preview Gala for PILBA Members on Thursday, November 29, and will continue through Saturday, December 1. The winners will be announced at a Pick-Up Party on Sunday, December 2.

All proceeds from the Festival of Wreaths will be donated to the Black River United Way Disaster Recovery, Preparedness and Resiliency Initiative  and will benefit Georgetown County families directly affected by the storm and subsequent flooding.

“PILBA is delighted to host the festival,” said David Gundling, President of the organization.

“We want to help victims of the hurricane, and we also want to bolster “Shop Small” and “Shop Local” initiatives in Pawleys Island and Litchfield in time for Christmas.”

“We urge everyone in the Waccamaw Neck Area  to participate by donating a wreath, sponsoring an artist, volunteering at the Festival, and especially by bidding on the beautiful wreaths on display during the Festival,” said Event Chair, Troi Kaz.

Hurricane and Flooding Relief Fund

You may be eligible for $1,000!

Honored to once again be asked to serve on the Realtors Relief Foundation Task Force for the Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors, we had our first meeting this week. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been donated to this fund to help victims of Hurricane Florence and the flooding aftermath in the Carolinas.  realtor-relief-fund-logo

We meet to review applications from not only realtors whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Florence and the epic flooding, but also members of the general public! After our local approval process, the applications are sent to the National Association of Realtors for final approval.

If you, or someone you know, are a victim who has experienced damage to your residence due to Hurricane Florence and the flooding, you may be eligible for assistance.

The REALTORS® Relief Foundation is providing mortgage or rent relief up to $1,000 to those who qualify. Applications are processed on a first come, first served basis.

Assistance is available to qualified applicants towards one of the following options: 1) Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged by Hurricane Florence or; 2) Rental cost of temporary shelter due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the storms. Relief assistance is limited to $1,000 per applicant.

You must meet the following guidelines in order to qualify for this program:

  1. Recipient must be a full-time resident and U.S. citizen or legally admitted for residence in the United States.
  2. Must include Proof of Residency (e.g. copy of your driver’s license or other governmental documentation evidencing residency.
  3. Must include your last mortgage statement or payment coupon with your application. If renting temporary housing, please include a copy of your current monthly rent statement or lease.

The following documents are required to show proof of damage to your primary residence.

1. Photos of Damages

2. Insurance Estimate

3. Copies of Repair Estimates from Contractors.

Property must be your primary residence and must be in a designated disaster area.

Application must be complete and include supporting documentation (as listed above) in order to be considered.
