A few weeks ago I asked some DeBordieu property owners to share some of their favorite DeBordieu memories with me!
Paula Ford graciously shared a few with me about her experiences with the South Carolina Turtle Enthusiasts (a.k.a. SCUTE) and her sweet grandson, Davis! Enjoy!
I am a SCUTE-turtle volunteer and I love not only finding Mother Turtles on the beach once in a while, but love finding new nests out on our beaches.“Troi, I have so many memories since I moved to DeBordieu in 2000. Being able to share with my Grandson, his first nest with me, or other children that come to vacation and walk with me early in the morning to get the chance to experience the thrill of finding a Loggerhead Sea Turtle nest. It’s an experience that will never leave you as long as you live. Another funny memory is of my Grandson, when he was about 5 talking about DeBordieu. Someone asked where he lived. He said Raleigh NC and DeBordieu. Then he said, You know, when you leave DeBordieu you miss it and when you return, you Love it!” It says it all. Then do not get me started on all the memories of our Water Babes Class, they go on and on. We could really write a book on that. Love, Paula”
Thanks Paula! That really does say it all. That Davis is a smart cookie! I’m looking forward to that book! LOL!
DeBordieu Colony is a very private community on the coast of South Carolina, between Charleston and Myrtle Beach, just
south of Pawleys Island. In addition to miles of secluded beach, boat landing access to North Inlet & the Atlantic, and a 24-hour manned security gate, the private, equity DeBordieu Club offers Pete Dye golf, a tennis center and an ocean front Beach Club with fine dining, a gazebo bar, two pools, and a playground. There is truly no place like DeBordieu. Come see for yourself.
